Welcome to our 2011 Biennial Coordinators' Training Hui virtual "brochure" and accompanying documents.

The 2009 Hui was so successful that again, we have booked the event at the Brentwood Hotel in Kilbirnie, Wellington and we are delighted to confirm that, accommodation and catering for two people from NZCOSS full member organisations will be covered EXCEPT for travel costs.

For those associate (network) members or members of the public interested in attending, the cost will be $300 GST inclusive for the two days (including accommodation) or $100 GST inclusive for each day i.e. ($200 for both days) plus $20 for the Gala Hui dinner (not including accommodation). Again, this does not include travel costs.  A $20 charge will be added on to ALL registrations for the Hui dinner to be held on Wednesday evening, 12 October at 6.30pm.

The Black & White Gala Awards Dinner, Wednesday, 12 October, 6.30pm, $20

So ladies, pull those LBD's (little black dresses, or for that matter -- little WHITE dresses..................or for THAT matter -- black AND white) out of your cupboards and get ready to party.  And gentlemen, this is an easy-peasy ask for you.  Who, after all, doesn't already have the makings of a black and white outfit for the evening?!

It will be a lovely event -- anyone who's ever attended an event there will be aware that the Brentwood knows very well, how to put on a great dinner in a great environment.  A wonderful opportunity to socialise, re-acquaint with old (and new) friends, network, re-connect.  And that's what it's all about!

Submit Your Entry to Win an Award:

Tell us a riveting story and send it in to Jill at jill@nzcoss.org.nz on one page of how you found resourcing for a successful project (i.e., innovation, lateral thinking/thinking outside the square). Final date for entries is 30 September 2011 at 5pm.

We're planning a gala evening with awards presented for First, Second and Third prize.

There will be a very small $20 surcharge added on to the package the evening.

Back to Basic Information:

All accommodation bookings at the Brentwood Hotel will be coordinated through the NZCOSS national office, so please get your registration form  in to us as soon as possible. (Remember, it's during the World Cup). Also, please note that there is a complimentary shuttle available between the airport and the hotel. As the rooms at the Brentwood tend to be twin, if you have a preference with whom you wish to share, please let us know in plenty of time so it all can be arranged to your liking. There is a complimentary shuttle from Wellington airport to the hotel. All you need to do on arrival is to find the free-call phone on the ground floor of the airport in the luggage pickup area with "Brentwood Hotel" on it, or failing the success of that, call 0508 273 689.  (This is a free phonecall directly to the hotel and they will send a car/van to pick you up.)

We're delighted that the Mayor of Wellington, Celia Wade-Brown will be delivering the opening address on Wednesday morning, 12 October.  This will be followed over the next couple of days with talks and panel discussions on:

  • Working with Migrants and Refugees: Using their International Expertise, Talents and General Experience
  • How Peoples' Centres, CAB's and Community Law Centres use THEIR Resources and how Coordinators can and should make use of their resources
  • How commerce can work with the community by sharing resources
  • Tangata Whenua in our World -- How do we work alongside each other and share resources in a respectful way
  • Christchurch: What the past 10 months have taught us on a national level about using community resources.

The 2011 AGM will be held in conjunction with the Hui on the morning of Thursday, 13 October from 9.00 to 11.00am.

We very much look forward to seeing and sharing with you what we hope will be a most inspiring and worthwhile couple of days.
